About Goddess Fish Promotions
Goddess Fish Promotions was established October 14, 2008. Why? Well, when Marianne became a published author and got her the first taste of trying to promote a book on a budget, there was only one other virtual book tour company in place at the time, and their fees were simply too high for a small press author. After coordinating and running her own tour, she knew other authors could use the same service for a reasonable price. Thus, Goddess Fish Promotions was born.

Because both Judy and Marianne were authors and editors prior to running Goddess Fish Promotions, they approach the business with a unique point of view, and treat their clients how they would expect to be treated.

The people behind the fish

Judy Thomas -- The Goddess

Judy has a college degree in English and she’s worked in retail, education, at her local library as well as an editor for a small press and for the now defunct ShadowKeep Ezine. She’s also a published author so can see things from both sides of the fence. In 2013, she “retired” and now spends her days helping authors make their dream come true—as well as working as much as she can with her local theater group.

Marianne Arkins - Fish

Grammar freak and coffee lover, Marianne wrote her first novel at ten years old, built her first commercial website in 2000, and published for the first time in 2006. She worked as a professional editor for just over a year, and knows what it’s like to write, edit and promote a book on a budget.

One of our interviews during the tour explains our nicknames ... keep visiting daily to find out!

The Nefarious Series Excerpt Tour + Giveaway

The Nefarious Series
by Lucille Moncrief

GENRE:  Dark Fantasy, Steampunk  (erotica elements)

Book 1 of 6 of Lucille Moncrief’s the Nefarious Series

Talcott Henderson, dead for over one hundred years old, wants to live again. Enslaved and abused, he longs to destroy his maker and return to the world of the living. But first, he must replace himself with someone else. Armed with only a silver tongue and a fuzzy sense of right and wrong, he sets his sights on Elyse Delafayette, a lonely melancholic. But Samuel Quartermaine, a vampire hunter with a dark past of his own, bears a grudge against Talcott's maker, and stalks Talcott from the shadows of the cemetery walls.

Will Talcott succeed in convincing Elyse to join the ranks of the undead before Samuel can stop him?

Fans of Dracula, steampunk, and gaslight fantasy will love this collection of dark and lurid tales. If you're tired of sparkly vampires and sickly-sweet romances, sink your fangs into the Nefarious Series and get a bigger bite out of the vampire world.

While the bombs rain overhead, Talcott Henderson and a group of fellow soldiers huddle in the cratered ground beneath the German front lines. Through the never-ending din of enemy fire, the voracious, blood-soaked machine of war haunts Talcott. Memories claw at him; kill or be killed, eat or be eaten. In the bowels of the earth a specter appears and offers him an eternal life free of guilt.

But what is the cost of an unmarred soul?

If you like dark and gritty tales, war stories and the supernatural, you'll love this installment of the authoress Moncrief's Nefarious series. Grab your copy today, travel through time, and escape into a breathtaking new world!

Can evil consume innocence?

Can the one who walks the line between both save it?

Elyse Delafayette, innocent yet darkly cynical, continues a naive flirtation with evil incarnate. Although goodness pursues her, she rebukes him. Although he seems sincere, she fears he is not.

Samuel Quartermaine, embodying darkness and light, races against time to save her from the clutches of the undead.

Will she let him love her?

If you are sick of sparkly vampires and love sarcastic heroines, brooding, secretive heroes, and exploring the stark contrast between good and evil, you will love this story. Get your copy now to experience a sensual, thrilling ride into vivid new world!

Penny Dreadful meets Fifty Shades

Described as “captivating,” and “hauntingly beautiful,” the Nefarious series is a sophisticated, enthralling, and well-written tale of intrigue and devious desires. Set in a lurid, southern gothic world, follow the undead Talcott Henderson as he engages in a battle of wits with his intended, Elyse Delafayette.

But wait, what’s this? Half-ling dhamphyrs armed with hawthorn stakes, an energy-witch coven torn apart by infighting, and a corpse-like, ancient vampire king with an agenda of his own?

Enhanced with custom illustrations, this fast-paced steampunk series will leave you on the edge of your seat and hungry for more. If you are sick and tired of wimpy vampires and the flood of terrible books on the romance market, grab your copy today of the Nefarious series and relearn what a true escape into fiction is all about.

Fans of Trueblood and all things dark and steampunk will fall in love with Lucille Moncrief's Nefarious Series.

In the fifth installment of this newest generation of vampire lore, go back in time to the savage heights of the French Revolution. Heads will roll as the story follows the series' anti-hero, Samuel Quartermaine, as he falls victim to the family curse and his father's betrayal.

Book 4.5 is a wild ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat and reading long into the night . . . With the lights on, of course.

I’d finished my latest invention. I almost couldn't stand the wait, the infernal wait before I could test its effectiveness. Anticipation would make the witness of its first use all the sweeter.

I was in the basement of our medical offices, and I couldn’t get the taste of her off my tongue nor out of my mind. What was it, defiance? Yes, that was the lingering savor. But something more—it was the taste of empathy. I knew it, because I did not have it. It tasted like love, companionship, and humanity itself. It was pure, blinding light—a tangy lemon, a soft custard and buttery embrace.

I took a deep breath and packed the equipment into the box and carried it upstairs, the scuff of my shoes and swish of my tailcoat the only sounds in the sterile silence.

Late into the evening of the day of her first procedure, I’d wandered the streets of town. Giddy with lust, I could sense her presence—an invisible, golden thread strung from her heart to mine, drawing me near until I stood outside her window. The soft sound of her breathing lulled me into a stupor, and I dozed under a rhododendron. I heard her rouse at sunup and followed her to the old woman's house.

I hid in the shade of an old oak tree, and what I heard made the hollow piece of black coal in my chest ache with tenderness—her empathy. I wanted it to be mine. I was a greedy, covetous creature. Without it, all joy had left me, the rich fabric of human emotion ashes in my mouth. This is death, and it is spiteful, frustrated, and bored.

Love and Halloween are an odd couple, but they can be the best means to heal a broken heart.

Allison Prince never planned on leaving her job with the Waite Gazette, but when the chance to discover her past comes along, she can’t say no. She’s determined to learn about her grandmother and make the advice in her column more relatable. With her rescue dog, Woofy, beside her, she sets out to learn as much as she can about Hallowsville, Ohio.

Erik Greene doesn’t believe in love and isn’t fond of Halloween. He’s convinced his broken heart won’t heal—until he meets Allison and visits the local animal shelter. He doesn’t want a journalist snooping around Hallowsville. But Allison isn’t all she seems and the pup at the shelter proves love is possible.

Can he open his heart to new opportunities and chase the love of his life? Or is he destined to be the Dandy Devil of Hallowsville all alone?

“I knew about you long before your emails, even if I didn’t realize I did.”

“Erik?” He had to have said something. He hated her.

“Mr. Surly?” Delilah laughed and shook her head. “No.”

“Does he ever smile?” She toyed with the class covering the counter. “Or would that break his face?”

“He’s good at distant.”

“Too bad. He’s cute.” She hadn’t wanted to blurt that out. “But petulant.”

Delilah’s brows rose and she stopped laughing. “Remember the cute comment when you’ve fallen in love with him and he doesn’t return your feelings. Trust me. He’s cute, but he’s a handful very few women want to take on.”

“He can be all the cute he wants. I can tell you he won’t make a move.”

“Why wouldn’t he ask you out?” Delilah asked. “You’re adorable. It runs in the family, you know. We’re all adorable.”

“Compared to you and the other women I’ve seen, I’m nothing great. I’m short, curvy and not perfect,” Allie said. She knew her limits. Her exes liked to remind her as to where she could improve. Erik would be the same. “Why aren’t you with him? Or are you? You make a handsome couple.”

“Erik? No.” Delilah rewrapped a spool of ribbon around the cardboard. “He’s not my type, but I’ve dated him. It was a disaster.” She tapped the spool on the counter. “You’re more his type.”

“No thanks.” She refused to even try when she had the feeling she’d be shot down on the first date.

“Well, don’t think you’ll cure him. He’s beyond help.”

“I don’t know what you mean, but I won’t.”

“Remember that.”

“I’m not looking to date anyone. I dumped my boyfriend right before I left because I found out he’d cheated on me. I don’t have time to go through that again. Plus, once the month-long trip down memory lane is over, I’m back at the Gazette.” So she’d slipped and said she was home. So what? The word change was a simple goof-up. Nothing more.

“We don’t have a paper here in Hallowsville,” Delilah said.

“Okay?” She didn’t understand. “You share one with the next town over? The county?”

“Nope.” Delilah put the ribbon down. “You are an Astor. You’ve got the right to stick around and since you’re in the newspaper business, you’d know how to run one. Why not stay a while after the month and give us a newspaper? There’s still a press and once people found out we had a paper again, you’d have business.”

“I write columns, not oversee publications.” Running a newspaper? Half the time she struggled with balancing her checkbook. The thought of accounts, advertising, stories…she’d sink in weeks.

“You helped run the student paper in college.”

“It was a free paper and mostly used by the students to line bird cages and for house-breaking dogs.” Her heart sank. “I don’t know anything about the day-to-day operations of a paper.”

“It’s not like you’d be running it alone.” Delilah left her stool and retrieved three spools of ribbon from the other end of the counter. “Hallowsville is a remarkable place. When we see a need, we find a way to fill it and come together while doing so. You might be better at running the paper than you think.”

“Delilah.” No matter what she said, she wouldn’t change her cousin’s mind.

“I hope you rethink the paper, but I really hope you stick to your gut feeling concerning Erik.”

Second Sight Monster Mash Countdown Blitz + Giveaway

Denise is a Southern girl who has lived in Louisiana all her life, and yes, she has a drawl. She has a wonderful husband and two incredible children, who not only endure her writing moods, but who also encourage her to indulge her writing passion. Besides writing romantic suspense, she enjoys traveling, reading, and cooking. Accounting is a skill she has learned to earn a little money to support her writing habit.
She wrote her first story when she was a teen, seventeen handwritten pages on school-ruled paper and an obvious rip-off of the last romance novel she had read. She's been writing off and on ever since, and with more than a few full-length manuscripts already completed, she has no desire to slow down.

Desperate to begin a new life, Jerilyn Bowman changes her name and goes off the grid. Sparks fly when Det. Nick Moreau confronts her about her identity and then seems to follow her wherever she goes. When a stranger dies while gripping her chin in his hand, passing to her the gift of prescience, she begins to witness awful crimes before they happen.

Jerilyn’s claim that she’s able to see the future both frustrates and fascinates Nick to the point he can’t get her out of his mind. Are Jerilyn’s claims of second sight a cover for her own crimes? Will Nick discover the truth before Jerilyn becomes the killer’s next victim?

Q&A with the Author:

1.   When did you start writing, and was there a specific event or person who influenced you to become an author?
I started writing about twelve years ago. I’ve always had a very active imagination, and sometimes, I felt guilty spending so much time daydreaming. Then one day, I got the idea to turn those daydreams into plots ideas for books. So I floated the idea to my husband. I remember talking to him one night about a premise I had for a book, and he gave me so much encouragement that I ended up writing the book. That book was Purgatory, and it was published several years ago.

2.   Are you currently working on a project, and if so, can you tell us anything about it?
I’m actually working on three projects right now.
Blind Sight is the third book in the Prescience series. All of the books in this series have main characters that have the gift of clairvoyance in one form or another. In Blind Sight, the hero Luke Kingston is a DEA agent with a strong sense of what will happen in the future. He knows things, as in sixth sense, without really seeing them, as in a vision. He knows someone is going to try to kill the new woman in his life because of him and it hurts and angers him because he also knows there’s nothing he can to prevent it. That doesn’t stop him from trying though.
Oceans Apart is about the former lead singer of Caine’s Brother, a nineties alt-rock bank, and the woman that loved him. The bank broke up years ago after a nasty fistfight between the brothers. The band’s front man, Aidan Caine, disappeared shortly after that, and his girlfriend, Lucy Landau, has spent the last twenty years looking for him. She’s pretty sure he’s dead because his ghost keeps trying to guide her in her search for answers about what happened to him.
The House on Dare Island is about a woman who moves to Dare, Colorado, to search for her grandfather’s missing fortune. Things get rather complicated when Dellanee Mason discovers she’s not the only person who thinks Jackie Mason’s ill-gotten fortune is hidden on Dare Island. To her dismay, the sexy new stranger in town is a true crime writer trying to uncover the real story of mob hit man Jackie Mason and his leads have brought him to Dare. Dellanee suspects he might be after more than just the story.

3.   What is your favorite writing snack?

Coffee. Just coffee.

4.   If you could have dinner with any of your characters, which ones would you choose? Why? What food would you serve?
I would love to share a meal with the ensemble of characters from the second five books of my Haunted Hearts series, the River Road set. Despite their struggles and their differences, that bunch knew how to have a good time. There would never be a dull moment. We would have a mix of Cajun and Creole dishes because we’re all from Louisiana. And of course, there would be music and dancing. Laissez bon temps rouler!

5.   Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

Because I took a few trips to south Louisiana to soak in the locale and the culture, I learned a lot about New Orleans and the parishes along the River Road. For instance, when I had previously gone to New Orleans, I had never ventured much further than the French Quarter as far as absorbing the locale. That is a very limited perspective. There is so much more to New Orleans than Bourbon Street. I fell in love with Magazine Street and the Irish Channel, and those areas are featured heavily in my books set in New Orleans now.

6.   How do you relax, or what do you enjoy doing when you are not writing?
I like to snuggle under a blanket with a cup of coffee and either a good book or a good show to binge watch. Okay, I confess, I might be just a wee bit addicted to Minecraft.

7.   What is your largest unfulfilled dream, and what are you doing to reach it?
Hmmm. For years, I wanted to be a singer/song-writer and perform in front of an audience, a big audience. Well, I’m—a lot of years old – so I know that’s never going to happen. My dream of being a singer may have gone unfulfilled, but I’m not resentful or sad about it. Not anymore. I’m living a fulfilled life. So I’m not looking back to things that might have been and never were. I channeled all my creative and artistic energy into writing. I can still remember my squeal of joy when I was offered my first publishing contract. The feeling I get on release day of a new book never gets old.

8.   What do you fear most?
I’m not sure I should tell you that. Big Brother used that information against the protagonist in 1984.
One time I went white water rafting, and the guide told me not to be scared of falling out of the raft. I told him I wasn’t scared of falling out; I was scared of not being able to get back in.
I think I’m more afraid of things I might not be able to do than things that might happen to me. I really dislike feeling powerless.

9.   What was your favorite Halloween Costume?

I can’t remember a single costume. Not one. But if I had the nerve to wear one now, I think I’d dress up like an old west dance hall girl.

Excerpt 2:  637 word/count – Kendra Spark’s point of view

I awakened as the plane touched down in D.C. Guess I could fall asleep beside Derek after all.
His fingers intertwined mine and squeezed. “We’re here.” His gaze searched mine. “We should stop at the morgue if you feel up to it.”
I nodded, and then realized I hadn’t made any hotel reservations. “Oh, shoot. I need to call the hotel. I totally forgot to make a reservation.” As the plane rolled along the runway I pulled my hand from Derek’s to shuffle through my purse, looking for my cell phone.
“Don’t you think about calling a hotel, I’ve got the best suite around.” His dimpled smile struck my heart like an arrow. He tilted his head and raised a brow as though he waited for my response.
Was I supposed to guess what he meant? “Not sure what you’re talking about. Where did you make reservations?” My heart thrummed a snappy beat at the thought he’d taken initiative in reserving a place for me to stay.
He grabbed my hand and lifted it to his lips, gently kissing my palm. “The cottage behind my home is open to you. I had someone come in over the weekend to clean and stock it with a few groceries. I’d actually offer you a room in my home, but I figured you’d turn me down flat.” He kissed my inner wrist and my mouth dropped open in response.
Fireworks shot through all parts of my body from his gentle passion. Then I thought of the cottage, a writer’s dream retreat. I’d adored the building the moment I first saw it nestled in the woods. Part of me liked the idea of being so close to Derek, but the other part of me wondered about the speed of my growing attraction to him. Would I be able to keep from compromising our professional relationship? The kiss at my place had sent me into a dizzying tailspin of wanton feelings and emotions. Derek came across as honorable and caring, but I barely knew him. Other than our short conversation on the way to the airport and what Jenna kept telling me…that he was head over heels for me. Right. For all I knew he could be a womanizer, and all his boyish charms were part of his allure to snag a quick tryst.
What did Jenna actually know about him, only what she saw at the office? She’d never worked one-on-one with him in the past. Plus, he had three brothers, and if they looked anything like he did I could only imagine the kind of competitions they all had when it came to women.
The tip of his tongue slid across the skin of my wrist, his smoldering gaze promised more.
His overall assertiveness gave me the impression our so-called professional relationship might have surpassed into a deeper personal level or was he reeling me in for a good night’s romp? Unsure, I closed my mouth and licked my lips. A little pant escaped. The plane stopped moving. The eight agents seated around us stood to depart. Some of them stared at me, and my face blazed with a flash of heat, but I didn’t pull my hand away from Derek.
He was bent over as if retrieving something from below his seat. His hand clung to mine. He flattened his tongue against my wrist and slid it to the middle of my palm. Bolts of electric charges raced up my arm and shot straight down my center. What the heck is this man doing to me? This was a totally new-to-me side of Derek, perhaps his dark side.

The other agents had collected their overhead stuff and departed off the plane. All I wanted to do was flip my seat back and pant like a love-struck teenager. Good grief.
